RESEARCH PROFILE

Lona Gaikis graduated in 2017 as PhD (Dr. Phil.) in Philosophy, Art and Cultural Studies from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Her main area of research focuses on the “new key” in the American philosopher Susanne K. Langer (* 1895; † 1985). She is speaker at academic conferences (keynotes & presenter) as well as in exhibition contexts as curator.

Lona Gaikis, freelance writer and assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna since 2015 with lectures and seminars on current debates in philosophy, society and the arts. She contributes in anthologies, journals and exhibition catalogues (ORCID).

In 2009, she founded the project and platform czirp czirp – experimental and sonic arts. Oscillating between experimental formats, dance music as well as sound art, this platform has showcased artists such as Aïsha Devi (CH), Bergsonist (USA/MAR), EVITCELES (BGR), Islaja (FIN), Lucas Abela (AU) and Steve Roden (USA) i.a.
